Can someone tell me what the laws are in texas about dating once you turn 18?

Everyone tells me something different, ie... 'no sex with younger people', 'no dating younger people', 'you can only do anything beside people older'. Please help me find the laws for texas on the subject of these issues? Best answer awarded not for what I want to hear, but for what is the truths and has reliable resources posted that i can double check what you say with.
Best Answer:
You cannot have sexual relationships with anyone under 17
You can have sex solitary with someone 18 years old or older once you turn 18 within Texas.
You can date anyone you want, but sexual contact near someon under 17 is a different story (sexual contact by Texas law is any contact, even through clothing, that is intended to arouse the other person). There is a clause that say it is an "affirmative defense" if you are not more than 3 years older and the opposite sex of the other person. What "affirmative defense" medium, though, I am not sure. It does not say it is OK, but sounds more like it is a case-by-case basis. But I'm no ruling expert, so I cannot say for sure. =============================================== Texas Penal Code Section § 21.11. INDECENCY WITH A CHILD. (a) A person commits an offense if, with a child younger than 17 years and not the person's spouse, whether the child is of duplicate or opposite sex, the person: (1) engages within sexual contact with the child or causes the child to engage contained by sexual contact; or (2) with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person: (A) exposes the person's anus or any part of the person's genitals, knowing the child is present; or (B) cause the child to expose the child's anus or any part of the child's genitals. (b) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the performer: (1) was not more than three years older than the victim and of the in front of sex; (2) did not use duress, force, or a threat against the victim at the time of the offense; and (3) at the time of the offense: (A) was not required under Chapter 62, Code of Criminal Procedure, to register for time as a sex offender; or (B) was not a person who lower than Chapter 62 had a reportable conviction or adjudication for an offense under this branch.

There are no law regarding dating. There are laws regard sexual contact--any sexual contact--it’s not controlled merely to intercourse. In viewing a question you wrote a few months ago, you’re 13 (maybe 14 now), so IF it’s YOU who wants to date an 18-year-old, that’s just asking for trouble. First, if your parents don’t administer permission for it (and there’s no way in h*ll, I’d afford permission for my 13/14 year old to date an adult) that’s trouble #1. Second, if anyone (even a stranger on the street) has any justification to suspect there is any sexual contact going on at all, they can report it and it’ll be investigated, that’s bigger trouble. Third, normal, well-adjusted adults hold zero interest in dating children (and yes, you are a child), and anyone who has an interest surrounded by a child...well, it usually doesn’t turn out good. Forget it. Find someone your own age. Now, let me give this...for someone so young, I’m very impressed with your writing ability. You actually know how to construct a sentence and to communicate in a clear and effective behaviour. Kudos to you! You’re obviously very intelligent, so use your brain here.
