The IRAS form says I'm allowed claim for 'entertainment not re-imbursed by Co.' Can I claim my movie tix then?
Need an urgent answer peeps
In US, you can only claim entertainment that is business related and not reimbursed.
If you took your WIFE to the movies, no, you can't claim that.
If you took a CLIENT to the movies, and your boss didn't pay for it, then yes, you can claim that.
Only if going to the movies was a matter of business rather than just pleasure.
Answer:
And if you do claim a deduction, like the one you pointed out, and you don't have legitimate claim to it, you will draw attention to yourself and be in for an Audit for sure.
When it comes to the IRS...best to play it straight or they can become your worst nightmare.
