Why is pot illegal and liqour and tabacco legal?

Pot is a harmless drug that people take to have a good time. I smoked pot with my friends to have a good time, whats wrong with that. Pot has a 0% death rate, unlike cigarettes, which is the leading cause of lung cancer. Pot is natural, you can't say the same about tobacco. Liquor can make someone aggressive and violent, but I have not seen weed do that. You can die from a liquor overdose, but I never heard of someone dying from a pot over dose. If you count the people who have died from liquor and tobacco, doesn't it make sense to make that illegal and pot legal, since pot has a 0% death rate. Pot can be used as a gateway drug, but so can liquor. Pot effects the mind and body, but so does liquor, so whats the difference. Their is no solid evidence that people that do pot try harder drugs. I know people smoking for 5-10 years, but have never tried any other drugs. In some other countries where pot is legal, their seems to be no problem, so why not have it legal in the United States.
Because excessive use of pot kills the brain cells needed to spell correctly.
Beacause the Law says so.
First of all, I really find it hard to believe that you know smoking cigarettes causes cancer, but you THINK smoking pot doesn't. As far as the rest of your question...I pretty much agree with you. I would say alcohol is much more dangerous. I think if pot were legalized it would have both positive and negative effects though. Anyway, good luck with your crusade.
so the CIA can get extra funding from illegal drug sales!
Pot is a hallucinogenic. It can cause cancer. I agree it is less damaging than alcohol or tobacco. Do you think it is good for you?
It brings you to the embrace of Satan.
Think about it, stoned or not.
I dont drink or smoke..But, I would say the reason pot is illegal is because big business cannot figure out how to make money on it....And the government cannont tax it...

Think about it...The tobacco takes alot of land and processes to make a saleable product...And In turn, the government can apply a tax to every cigarette sold...

But, the Pot plants can be grown in peoples homes or back yards in abundance...So, why would the people have ot buy it from anyone....The same goes for Alchol, the distillery process is a complex achievment that is very profitable on a large scale.....

So, I think the obvious answer is Tax and Revenue....Pot is actually no more or less harmful than alchohol....
At the federal level, marijuana became illegal in 1937, after implementation of the Marijuana Tax Act. Before that time many states had anti marijuana legislation. In 1937 the marijuana tax act was introduced after being prepared in secret for nearly 2 years. The Act was prepared &introduced by Harry J. Anslinger, Chairman of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. The impetus behind this act was ignorance (lurid stories of marijuana use causing violent & criminal behavior) and racism, most notable against Mexicans and Negroes (who were the major users of marijuana & described as a undesirable population). The stories went on to say that marijuana caused young white girls to want to have sexual, relations with negroes and entertainers. The American Medical Association, represented by Dr. William C Woodward ( the chief drafter of The Uniform Narcotics Act) opposed the legislation, but was accused of obstructionism, evasion, and bad faith. The Act actually imposed a $1.00 tax on registered uses (plus devulging recipient, amount, and reason for the medicinal prescription, thus violating doctor patient cofidentiality), but $100.00 tax for non- registered, and provided stiff fines and imprisonment for not possessing the tax stamp. As for the previous statement by another that 'Pot causes you to embrace satan'. What planet are you from? Lack of faith In Jesus Christ causes one to embrace satan.
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it has more rights. I live in Ontario, Canada, and the provincial governments run taxpayer-funded ads humiliating smokers by calling them idiots, they even run a webite called stupid.ca (I think). On the other hand pot cafes and smoke-ins (though technically not the drug itself) are legal if not encouraged by politicians and every university has tuition-subsidized student organizations that sell the High Times. I'm not saying this is right, but the point is that legality doesn't mean it has a higher social status, or a higher status in the eyes of the government (or the draconian 'student governments').

Answer:
I'll be honest, America is a fucked up country and the government doesn't give a **** about anybody. If they did, then the drugs that are actually bad for you (tobacco and alcohol) would be illegal. The reason tobacco and alcohol are legal is because the government can regulate their distribution because their kinda hard to grow on your own. Because of this, they can be taxed giving more money to the government. Weed however is easily grown, therefore easily sold by individual people, eliminating tax on it. Also, if weed were legal, the government would make far less money on medecine because if you're not feeling good, 80% of the time weed can make you feel better. It is a natural pain reliever. The government would legalize meth and heroine if they could make a decent profit off of them. I'm tired of people assuming that because weed is an illegal drug that it's illegal because it's bad for you, because weed is 100% not bad for you. It isn't addictive and you can't overdose on it.
Prohibition doesn't work; just creates an underground industry- pot has a residual stigma from days past from propaganda films & such-

Probably better to prosecute those who cause accidents while impaired, since that's obviously irresponsible, & legalize/tax cannibis for private use...
and why is cocaine easier to get go figure im sure its politics and money
