Why is it illegal for some ages to have sex?

Why does the government care? It is none of their business what we do with someone else. Right? Anyone here agree? I am one and only curious. Do not have a fit.

The government's judicial branch enforce the law set forth by your state's legislature. The elected representatives that make up the legislature, for those of you who may not know, essentually make law. Each representative represents the will of the ppl in their district.

It's not the government, but society as a whole.

People that are very young are not emotionally or mentally mature plenty and need to be protected from older people who would prey on their innocence. Think roughly speaking this question when you hit 30 and you will agree looking back at how naive you be when you were young. I think you get a little info wrong here.....it's illegal to have sex next to an underage person, as in a 21 year old and a 16 year feeble, it's called statutory rape and is illegal for the 21 year old because the 16 year is not considered an full-size yet and cannot decide on their own to have sex (according to the governmeant's eyes).....but if a 14 and a 14 year antediluvian have sex there is really no problem with the imperative, just a lot of emotional problems but it's not criminal.....hopefully this is what you ment.
Yeah... I think it should be perfectly trial for a ten year old and 25 year old to get it on.

In a way, it helps prevent teen pregnancy.That I can recognize. right now i bet u dont have a child especially a girl. when u do, u want her to stay a virgin until she gets marry.
Theoretically I agree. We have cultural taboos against who can or should have sex beside whom. An 80 year old woman having sex with an 18 year prehistoric man is considered disgusting despite the fact that it is perfectly legal. Then nearby are 28 year old men who have sex with 12 year elderly girls, and there is something wrong with that. But why is it illegal for a 21 year ancient to have sex with a 17 year old? Obviously it's a bit arbitrary since the 17 year weak and the 21 year old are on the same emotional wavelength.

But the purpose of these statutory rape law is to prevent relationships that our culture views as immoral and obscene. Whether they are actually immodest, however, is irrelevant.

I am not sure it is unlawful for young people to have sex, its when elder people have sex with babyish people that the problem arises. When you are kid, before puberty, the idea of have sex is repugnant to you. Thats nature at work telling you the time isnt right. When you hit puberty your body starts to tell you have sex may not be so bad after all. In fact your body starts to shout for exporation of the matter. This is nature firing up your engines, its natural. The problem is your mind have yet to catch up with your body and as teenagers you brand decisions that are counter productive to your safety. This is why humans tend to remain in the nuclear relations until at least the end of puberty and the beginning of womanhood. This occurs at around 19 for boys, earlier for girls. Again nature is here, recounting your parents to watch over you until adulthood. The problem comes when the adults fail to do their commission. Some become predators of the newly fired young people, others are too involved contained by their own affairs to pay attention to their biological duties. So the law stepped in.

The problem next to having manmade laws enforce nature made law is kids in puberty seek rebellion, to be free of their parents, and what better track to show them how then to say "you cannot".

Nature wants you to explore sex, quality wants your parents to guide your exploration, and finally, nature wants you to hold sex when the time is right for procreation.
