is there a limit to what can be put on telephone poles?

Just wondering if there are guidelines as to what can be advertised on telephone poles (yard sale, lost pets, etc.) or if its pretty much all fair game. If anyone can support me out or redirect me to where i can find out. Thanks.

Those ads are call bills, or handbills. Your local codes enforcement department will have the rules for advertising on phone poles. Look surrounded by the blue pages of your phone book under your city government for the codes department. Your city may also own its own web site, and you can look for the codes department there. The reason for looking it up locally is that the rules are terrifically different from town to town. - Stuart
