Can a collection agency sue you or garnish wages if you have attempted to pay?

A collection agency has been automatically withdrawing $75 dollars a month for the last 6 months and next all of a sudden stopped taking the money and told us that we were in non-attendance and required us to pay the full amount of the debt, and also told us that we were refusing to money, even though we were making monthly payments. Now they wont take the monthly payments cause they voice we are in default, which how can we be in defaulting if they have been taking monthly payments?? Can they do this, can they just stop taking payments and right to be heard its not enough and put us in default?? I want help or some ideas on how to deal next to this issue, and paying off the debt is imposable, it is 15,000 student loan. Also since it is a student loan declaring bankrupcy is not an option
At first I be going to say no. But, becasue it is student loan, yeah. Was there a valid reason they stopped taking money out of your side? You need to speak to someone and let them know all be well until 6 months ago. Trust me, you do not want this on your credit. Defaulted student loans are the worst. They can take your tax refund, attach liens, etc. Try as hard as you can to get it reinstated. If not, and they go forward on the defaulting, then you'll have to pay as you as a rule would but they will take whatever money they can access from you until the whole loan is compensated off. Definitely try to resolved it.
Did you have a written agreement with them within which they agreed to accept $75 monthly payments? If not, they don't have to accept them. I would check to see if they are properly allowed to take money from your wages, I know the IRS can but anyone else I did not think so.
