If you had the power to change the law what law would you change and why?
Just a curious question to what laws people agree and don't agree with? I think teens shouldn't be aloud to have abortions without parental consent. It has been on the news that they were gonna bring out this law, but i don't know if they have or not. What do you think? Cheers.
They ought to make smoking pot legal. They could tax it just like they do cigs and alcohol and pretty much end the national debt!
I would make a law that says that no dual-citizen Israelis can hold positions in any local, state, or the federal government. I would also bar them from serving on the Supreme Court, Congress, the Pentagon. These traitors do not have the American people's best interest at heart. They are only looking out for themselves and Israel.
I could be on this topic forever, but one of the very first things I would definitely change, would be the length of time to execute someone who just received the death penalty, I would say from the time the sentenced is imposed, then no more than 24 hours to carry out the execution.
I think they should get rid of the law that says gays can't get married. I think any two people who love each other should be able to marry. No matter their gender.
I would make it illegal to discriminate against felons in the workplace or housing as long as the record was divulged and the workplace or community is not in danger from the individual. So many doors are closed to people with felony backgrounds and that impedes the rehabilitative process. We as a country are condemning people to a life of hardships for mistakes when they have paid the consequences as the courts deemed fit . We preach about becoming a valued and productive member of society but no one is willing to give these people a chance to prove that they have learned. Im not saying give them the keys to the country but it does take a village to raise a child and we are responsible as a society to a certain extent for their actions, by not helping or caring before they got to the point of criminal activity. We are responsible because of our lack concern and willingness to advise and help these people. Alot of these people have families and problems in life that we never consider and closing all the housing and employment opportunities that this country has to offer makes us as a society guilty of indifference to our countrymen. Yet we are willing to help the starving and homeless of other countries. When are we going to help our own and realize that our country is falling apart and becoming prejudice against anyone here that doesn't make millions, live the life that we deem as acceptable, or makes a mistake. Lets quit persecuting our own and start helping them!
I would make marijuana legal with a clause that would free all those imprisoned for it's use. It would save us a hell of a lot of money. Government jobs for the 'drug war' could be cut (saving, probably, billions of dollars between salaries and expense accounts) thousands of prisoners in jail for smokin' a joint would be set free (saving us millions a year in housing and feeding them in a jail cell), it could be taxed as alcohol is (creating revenue), it would bring an influx of workers to the workforce (contrary to popular belief, stoner does not necessarily = laziness. Some of the most sober people I know are also some of the laziest!) Hey, maybe they could fill some of those jobs that will come available when illegal aliens are sent packin'. I could only hope!
I would like to see Attorneys, all charge the same fee's. And that fee be regulated by officials.
There is a serious problem in this country of those that cannot afford attorney's.
Our prisons are severely over crowded with drug offenders----I would make many changes to the laws making many drugs legal and the punishment different for many of these other offenses----------then I would provide for more flexibility in the law on a case by case basis---example that young man who is serving a 10 year sentence for statutory rape of a minor-------she was 15-----he was 17-----hhhmmmmm-----
and then another one--- look at the link below and YOU decide.
Answer:
Working in child protection I see on almost a daily basis where we have a newborn baby brought into foster care because mom tested + for usually meth and the baby does as well. It does not just stop there, all to often I see this mother who not only just had a baby test + for illegal substances, but this generally is their 3 or 4 child that has tested + . They have these children, they get placed into foster care, mom does not want to stop using drugs and yes I say she does not want to stop cause believe by this time she has had plenty of opps to do so. Once a child comes into foster care they state works with parents suppling them free of charge with services and treatment if they choice to except these services. Usually they don't and they leave the state so this baby sits in foster care for the min time the federal law says reasonable efforst have to happen. Finally parental rights are teminated and the child is finally adopted out..... age 3+ years old.
Anyway, mom moves on gets pregnant again, has another meth baby. They cycle continues, over and over again.
My law~ after the first meth baby, if the mother does not seek treatment and obtain full custody of her child. The parent is required to be sterilized to prevent further children born + of illegal substances.
This law should also obtain to those great father of the years who supply the drugs to these mothers and who are oh so proud to know they have mulitple children in foster care as they continue to use drugs.
