A former colleague and friend wants me to send her three internal presentations she worked on. Legal?
I have never signed a non-disclosure agreement here. Also, I owe this friend a favor -- she's hooked me up with an interview at her new company. But the three presentations she's asked for are major presentations that were given to clients.
I'm not asking if this is ethical -- merely if it is LEGAL.
Answers:
Nope...not legal. If the presentations were made as part of her work for the company, they become property of the company. If you transfer them to her OUTSIDE of the company without written permission you can be prosecuted (big time!) for disclosing confidential information. The only loophole would be if she had copyrighted the material and, with WRITTEN company assent, expressly reserved the right to ownership. My guess is, not a chance in the world.
