Why is marijuana illegal?
Because it's harmful effects on the body are well documented and laws were passed to keep persons using the drug from harming themselves and others while under the influence.

Primarily because a bunch of Jackass' classified it as a drug so they could wage war on average citizens (called war on drugs)

Because Dow Chemical in the thirties discovered how to create synthetics from petroleum, synthetics that could replace the job of hemp. Lobby Congress to make it illegal, then the US will have to buy the new synthetics. The plan worked.

It was originally made illegal in order to legally discriminate against Mexican imigrants and African Americans. It's still illegal because the government can't tax it.

The U.S. Government probably can't figure out how to tax it properly or it would be legal. They know they can charge the people buying it hear a tax to buy it , as we pay huge prices for cigarrettes. They are not sure how they will tax the drug cartels that supply it . LOL. Can you imagine the IRS sending a delinquent tax notice to one of those bad guys ? I have heard that there is some marijuana being allowed for purchase if it is for medical reasons in some places. i am not sure of the details. in those cases it is said to be legal but i am not completely sure if it is or not. This might be a good question to ask Hillary Clinton. I hear she reads/uses FreeLawAnswer.com . I know that her hubby tried it / but never inhaled it :-)
It is illegal because laws banning it have been passed by our elected representatives in government. Why do you think anything is illegal?
It is said to be a gateway drug, but I don't see the logic in that. I would say it is because the government is unable to profit and control it at this time.
