does she love him? maybe her motive is not to make him an american. either way it's her decision and if you truely love her you'd back off and respect it. I'm sure you wouldn't want her disowning you because you married someone she didn't approve.

You might just be hung up over the fact that she and your father are not together anymore and her marrying someone else illegal or legal is a permant way of dashing your hope of them ever getting back together.
