Family Leave for two Ga State Employees?

My wife and I both work for the State of Georgia. I was just told that since we are both state employees, we enjoy to split the 12 weeks granted by the Family Leave Act for the birth of our child. We both meet all the mandatory requirements to be granted Leave This sounds king of fishy. Any truth to it?

Good question. Since you work for equal 'company' you are limited to 12 weeks total as a household. The intent of this was to avoid placing an unfair burden on one employer by making them provide 24 weeks of set out for one birth, etc. Fair or not, it is the law.
