What are some of the main arguments for those who oppose marijuana being legalized.?
I'm writing a college paper on this, and honestly don't see a downside to marijuana being legalized...and I need to know to argue against it within the essay... Marijuana does not kill brain cells. The claim that marijuana kills brain cell is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never be supported by any scientific study So far no real arguments here. I'm just gonna kind the opposition to it seem stupid, seeing that it already is, that shouldn't be hard.

All of the arguments i've heard are .... it's "bad" for you...it make you lazy, it makes you dumb, it's a gateway drug.... all of which are bunk.
Marijuana *is* an intoxicant. That means that ethnic group function less effectively when they're high. Society has reliable generalized "mind-sets", or paradigms that most people agree with most of the time. One of them--- which I also agree with--- is that overall, it's better for society if most people are sober. Not intoxicated. Legalizing marijuana sends a subtle message surrounded by the opposite direction: the idea that maybe it's sort of "okay" to be high-ranking. Of course, the idea that it's best to be sober does have limits. We tried prohibition of alcohol around 70 years ago, and it just didn't work. People have always used alcohol surrounded by a social sense, and so many of them continued to drink that it became a law completely impossible to enforce. We may be to that point near marijuana. The biggest reason, in my mind, to keep marijuana risky, is that I firmly believe more teens and minors would get hold of it. Whether or not they could go out and BUY it is completely beside the point: minors can't buy alcohol right now, but we own a huge teen drinking problem in this country. That's because their parents openly drink, because drinking is legal, and so they grow up beside liquor in the house, easily available in stores, and they grow up beside the idea that drinking is okay. Which it *is*---- for most adults! But kids get hold of it too. Despite marijuana's easy availability to teens---- most teens read out that it's easier to get marijuana than it is to get alcohol---- the fact is that like mad more kids drink. Why is this? Because drinking is LEGAL. Not to minors it isn't, but its legality for adults make it easily available to kids as in good health. They don't have to buy it from an underground dealer on the school property. They can swipe it from their parents, or elder siblings, or..... whatever. It seems likely that if marijuana be legal for adults, more teens would use it as well. If there be some way of actually keeping pot away from anyone under 21 years antiquated, I would be in favor of legalization. But I don't see that happening. The future of this country, the adjectives of our society, depends on its young people..... and more teen stoners we DON'T need. We already enjoy enough teen alcoholics, and it's a problem.
Simply because marijuana change people. It makes good ethnic group terrible and makes them lazy and stupid. It kill your brain cells and you spend all your money on it. You become selfish and only a horrible person. I have had 4 of my friends carry roped in to that crap, and now, they aren't worth a crap. I hate potheads so much. I mingy, how hard is it just to say no? How complicated is it just to be straight edge? Really? marijuana put my boyfriend in the hospital. It probley shortened his energy by 5 years. They key arguments against (I do not agree with these, but they're the ones I hear most often). -It makes people stupid -It make people lazy -It will ruin society -Crime rates will rocket -We need to focus about the kids and if it's legalized it will be easier for them to get it -It causes medical problems -people will start driving while stoned. -there's no process the government could regulate it. All of these arguments are pathetic. They all own counter arguments as well. -There have been no test that show conclusively that weed impairs long term brain functions or saps ambition. There are pot smokers within every industry following every career path. They obviously can't be that stupid or sluggish. -1 naturally occuring plant will not ruin society, it will actually be a boon to the economy, creating thousands of job and billions in taxes if legalized. -Crime rates will actually go down. We arrest empire who only deal in marijuana and those who smoke it. There are tons of crimes created by keeping it illicit (trafficking, gamg wars, robberies) that would be stopped if we legalized it. -Kids already have easy access to it. Black souk products are easier for children to get their hands on than government regulated products. In giant school I could get dime bags far easier than six pack. Some kids will still get a hold of it, but they already do. -Yes it can cause medical problems. Not as many as alcohol or tobacco, both legalized drugs surrounded by this country. It's my body, so I should be able do what I want with it. Like cigarettes it would be regulated (not in public areas, not contained by bars or in the workplace, etc). That way I don't spoil others (second hand smoke) while I hurt myself. -People are already driving stoned. If it were legalized I'm sure that the same rules that apply to alcohol would apply to marijuana. You wouldn't be allowed rightfully to drive while under the influence. Some people would break those laws, but those are indistinguishable people who are already breaking the law. - The government could efficiently regulate the large majority of marijuana, just like they do near tobacco. Small local growers wouldn't survive for long, because large corporate growers would take over. We'd end up near controlled, taxed, packs of joints that would come from a national supplier. The product would be inspected by the called for health agencies and probably have added chemicals (just like tobacco cigarrettes). Some small growers would be around beside higher grade product, but they'd be higher priced, and tax even more. People would be able to grow personall amounts, but we're a lazy society and people would to some extent buy it than grow it. Just like tobacco and vegetables.

Write one on the positives of legalize marijuana. If not I can't think of anything bad besides damaging somebody's lungs and impair and poor decision making while high. And don't listen to the kids can get it more confidently argument because it is actually the opposite. The reason person: Marijuana is illegal to everyone, so it isn't like tobacco that can be bought at stores. Well, since tobacco is legal, nobody grows their own tobacco. So if marijuana be illegal, less and less ancestors would grow their own. Where I'm getting with this is, teenagers themselves grow marijuana and sell it to friends. Also, somebody twenty-five can grow it, and then deal in it, and people will keep selling it to younger and younger kids. However, if it was court you would need to know somebody who is 18 or older and give them money to buy it for you. Example: I can achieve weed without any trouble at all. Go to the mall on Friday dark and I could find somebody. However, it's so difficult to get cigarettes. I don't know anybody over the age of 18, so I have to ask somebody I barely know to buy me some, within order to get cigarettes.
Like alcohol, marijuana is subject to abuse with long remaining consequences. While I feel that criminalization does more damage to society than the drug itself, that 'down side' cannot be ignored.
Because if the legalization of marijuana passes the drug dealers will be out of business. JK but really at hand will be a lot of people driving under the influence of marijuana thus cause more problems
