Have several big guys walking the neighborhood together in the evening.

Invoke the police to see what types of crime is being committed, ask for some help with analytical problem solving to prevent them.

16. Get better, more secure locks for your doors, like Medeco locks. They are hard to pick. Get better doors like metal doors for exterior access points.
17. Lock your cars and have alarm systems installed in them.
18. If you're going to arm yourself, get legitimate firearms training so you don't shoot someone by mistake or inadvertently break the law in self-defense.
19. Keep an eye on your kids and watch the neighborhood kids so they don't get into trouble. Kids just hanging around are a source of crime too.
20. Community involvement is an absolute necessity. Reach out to nearby neighborhoods and coordinate. The wider you cast your net, the harder it is for crooks to infiltrate it and start a crime wave.
