Do you think there should be severe punishment for those men who cheat their wife?

Those men who cheat their wife and do not remain loyal to them and keep a mistress and show in front of the world that they are very good. Is there a severe punishment under Indian Law for them? What about the mistress? Do you think such women who break someone's married home should be severly punished ?
Stay out of people's lives, if people did that more often than meddling it wouldn't be an issue. Humans evolved in a society without marriage, the church came in and made it a convoluted law.

It's the men who abandon their wives & children that should be punished. Any woman who knowingly has an affair with a married man without the knowledge & permission of his wife should be jailed along with the man she has cheated with. Since I'm an American, I doubt that we will ever see such things as 'public stonings', of these types of people who have no respect for others!
It is called alimony. The only bad thing is the unfair system under which it is set up. If a man cheats he has to pay alimony to the ex wife. If she cheats he still has to pay. Where is the justice in that.

I don't think anyone who cheats should be punished severly. Men were with dozens of women back in the day - it's still embedded within their minds to have a lot of sex with different women. And women aren't that innocent either - Trust me, women cheat too. If I were married 10+ years and my husband wanted to spice things up, I wouldn't have a problem with him hiring an escort or something like that, as long as he didn't lie to me about it and he didn't have feelings for the woman.

1. Indian law regards unfaithfulness on the part of both husband and wife as illegal.
2. There is no provision for any censure on the mistress. The relationship with another woman without divorcing one's wife is illegal and must be discontinued.
3. Often some husbands go astray as their wives are uncaring and unloving towards them and vice versa. Such cases need to be treated thoughtfully. Other than that, people who cheat on their spouses should receive harsh punishment.
That seems like a moral issue, rather than a legal one, so I'm not sure about punishment by the state.

At the same time, I think anyone who would do that is horrible and should be subject to ridicule and scorn in the community.

Yes, such men and their mistress deserve horrible punishment according to Indian System. Even a dog remains faithful to his master. If a man cannot be loyal to his wife, this actually shows his 'TRUE SANSKAR' and shows that word trust is not in his dictionary. Such mistress who break somebody's home deserve more punishment, as it simply shows that she is a CHARACTERLESS WOMAN who is like a prostitute and for the sake her own benefit can spoil marriage of others. They should be jailed for atleast 6 years so that both can realize the word 'LOYALTY & TRUST'.

Sure, but only if there is the same punishment for women who cheat on their husbands. Personally I know more women who have cheated than men.
