HSBC Finance Banking Information?
I have applied for and been approved for a line of credit from HSBC Finance. Problem is---- when he told me to go there to sign the papers, the computer had a system error. He explained that it had nothing to do with my status - I am approved on their end and with the underwriters. It still hasn't been fixed and it is now over a week. I gave him all my rightful id's (I met with him one on one), I have nothing in return. He told me that because it is a big nationwide banking service, the help desk that needs to get the technician is based from India!!! The technician told him it would be fixed two days ago -- as told by him to myself. Does anyone find this a bit funny - knowing that HSBC Finance is a Nationwide (Country Wide) Banking IInstitute and they can't get this problem resolved.
Answer:
You are correct, it is very unusual and let me say that you need to be VERY careful in dealing with HSBC and their affiliates. (HSBC = Hongkong Shanghai Bank of China).
They have a reputation for tacking on 'insurance' charges that you supposedly sign up for at application or that they supposedly sold you through phone solicitation. That happened to me recently and I filed a letter of complaint and was reimbursed for insurance charges I had never agreed to an for which they could not provide documention that I had asked for.
This is a slick bunch and I would cancel any lending dealings with them ASAP. If you have further problems, please contact the Federal Reserve to file a complaint. They can get you in touch with the federal agency that oversees complaints against a bank. (www.federalreserve.gov)
Please go to www.federalreserve.gov and do a search for HSBC, you'll find many complaints against the company. I believe the variety and volume of complaints speaks for itself. Additionally, use google to search for 'HSBC complaints' and you will see problems that are world-wide.
HSBC Finance appears to have a problem with issuing credit cards, applied for by a single person, to several people, including one woman's ex-husband of 25 years!
Close this credit line ASAP. Look for a more reputable lending firm is my advice to you.
Most times both the borrower and lender may be at fault when a lending decision goes wrong. But the fact remains that HSBC has a pattern and history that is less than stellar, and most people are unfamiliar with legaleze banking terms, not realizing what they may be getting themselves into.
Borrower beware and good luck. If you have any uneasy feelings that your identity has been compromised, please feel free to contact me for additional steps that should be taken to protect yourself and your credit.
That's crazy.
