Can you give me some information on racial profiling on African Americans in the US?
I am writing a report on why African Americans are disproportionally targeted by law enforcement in the US. I need stats, reports, and sources. If you enjoy any information or anything to help me out, I'd appreciate it.

As with so masses individuals Mike plays the typical conservative role of it ain't happening to me so it must not exist. You need to keep an undo mind when you read any of this stuff... conservative or Liberal, Black or white... with a little more weight to the black side here because of the subject thing. When somebody like Mike suggests the Hoover institution, immediately go to the web and look for a critic of the the organization... like so. Wikipedia says... "The Hoover Institution is influential within the American conservative and libertarian movements. The Institution has long been a place of scholarship for high-profile conservatives next to government experience. A number of Hoover Institution fellows had connections to or held positions surrounded by the Bush administration and other Republican administrations. High-profile conservatives Edwin Meese, Condoleezza Rice, George Shultz, Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, and Amy Zegart are all Hoover Institution fellow. Retired U.S. Army General John P. Abizaid, former commander of the U.S. Central Command, was recently named the Institution's first Annenberg Distinguished Visiting Fellow." Interestingly Mikes hypothesis of going to the Hoover foundation struck a cord... Now keep in mind, I'm a 62 year old White guy... Liberal as expected, but I remembered something. The Great Mississippi River flood broke the banks and levees of the lower Mississippi River in early 1927, resulting within flooding of millions of acres and leaving thousands of people homeless. Although such a disaster did not fall lower than the duties of the Commerce Department, the governors of six states along the Mississippi specifically asked for Herbert Hoover in the emergency. President Calvin Coolidge sent Hoover to mobilize state and local authorities, militia, army engineers, Coast Guard, and the American Red Cross. His reputation as a humanitarian from this endeavor was endangered by the inhumane treatment of African-Americans during the disaster. Knowing the potential ramification on his presidential aspirations if such knowledge became public (and having no desire to oblige the afflicted African-Americans), Hoover struck a deal with Robert Moton, the prominent African-American successor to Booker T. Washington as president of the Tuskegee Institute. In exchange for keeping the suffering of African-Americans out of the public eye, Hoover promised unprecedented influence for African-Americans after he would be elected president. Moton agreed, and consistent with the accommodationist philosophy of Washington, worked actively to suppress information roughly mistreatment of blacks from being revealed to the media. Following election, Hoover broke his promises. This lead to an African-American backlash in the 1932 election that shifted allegiance from the Republican party (the event of Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation) to the Democrats.[17] Note that Hoover Broke his Promises and kept black suffering a secret. Sound Familiar... GW was the reincarnate of Hoover... lol... be aware that I don't believe that what happened the other afternoon was necessarily racial profiling... but did indicate that two egos be very badly bruised... Professor Gates because he read it as a challenge to his position on profiling and the Officer because he be summoned to help and felt unappreciated for his efforts... This coupled near a policeman's power complex which they feel they have to have to survive. The Cop unquestionably should have dropped the whole thing and gone. But hind site... right. Anyway, If you are going to report on this you need to look at it from both sides before developing an opinion and definitely accepting the Hoover Institute as Gospel is not constructive.. So says the 62 year old man that drank from the water fountain that said "blacks only" when he be 8 years old.
