A company called Americatel just added their service to my AT&T home phone without any authorization?
Has anyone had this problem or have any information on what to do other than the nasty call I have already made telling them to take it off? I don't understand how they can just add their service because if I want to make a change in my service I almost have to call in the FBI to prove I am authorized to make the change.
Answers:
Call your own phone company and tell them that you did not authorize this charge. This is very similar to what's called slamming. A long distance company must provide evidence that it was authorized by the customer to take over long distance service or it will be fined by the CRTC for phone slamming. Contact the CRTC at (819)-997-0272 or ask your preferred telephone company to report the phone slam on your behalf.
