Veterinarians, contracts, and maternity leave- need input please!?

contract negotiations are coming up and I feel i need to address motherliness leave this time (not currently in the contract). My boss has never deal with this before so I think I obligation to have an idea of what's the norm out there for a veterinarian within a small (4 doctor) practice for maternity leave and pregnancy considerations. I'm not currently pregnant, but we're going to start trying within the year. I consistency like I won't have a lot of leverage for raises/ vacay etc if I hold to put this in. If anyone has any experience with this i would appreciate any input and suggestions! (how long, paid/unpaid, should it be layed out contained by the contract now or as an addendum for later?) I treatment all input!
