If I posted my works on a website, and someone copied my work...what do I do?
IF I POSTED MY OWN WORKS ON A WEBSITE AND MADE IT COPYRIGHT - AND SOMEONE DID COPYRIGHT MY WORK - HOW DO I PROVE IT WAS MY WORK TO BEGIN WITH?
Also would help if someone told me, how do I make a work copyright? is there any sort of special process?
Note: The work im chitchat about are my quotes, written debates, and stories/thoughts/biographies
If you copyright it, the copyright is your proof. If you can prove someone used copyright material you can sue them. If they own no assets it would be a waste of time and money. Best not to post things on the web that you don't want passed around.
Just watch helplessly getting it copied. You procure a copyright by registering your work at
http://www.copyright.gov/
People tend to copy things posted on the Internet freely but they are suppose to acknowledge the source. The etiquette is that only a small portion of a long piece can be copied and then the reader is linked to the site of source if they want to see read more. However many people don't know or obey the rules and unless they are making money from your work their is not much you can do.
