How easy is it to get a drivers licence in NZ and what do the Police have to do with the process?

Answer:
It is easy to get a drivers licence in NZ, there are the three stages and some very well documented cases where they have been bought through dodgy agents.

The process is pretty standard, there's the written version and obviously the practical part.

The practical part is the tricky one, you only get a few chances and if you get it too wrong you'll have to have another go.

In saying that, given some of the 'accidents' or crashes and fatalities that you see in the papers and on TV every day you have to worry about how easy it is.

Maybe the Police should have a bigger part in the process to screen out the really bad drivers who end up on the roads causing really bad crashes.
Three stages of license. Learners, Restricted, and Full. I'm still on restricted. The police should have nothing to do with the process unless you are a crim.
