British justice let 4 child abusers walk free from court on suspended sentances?

i'm ashamed that im british, a few years ago my son was abused by a babysitter & he was only given 18 months probation WE NEED A CHANGE IN THE LAW what do you think?
Yep. It's exactly the same in Australia.

I blame civil libertarians, and stupid hippie judges who buy into that crap that 'oh you were abused as a child, so I'm gonna give you yet another chance okay, just be a good boy now!'.

As amazing as it sounds that there are people THIS naive, civil libertarians actually believe that serial rapists and paedaphiles who've abused and been convicted of rape/etc for their 13th time CAN BE REHABILLITATED!!!!! It would be hilarious if it wasn't such a tragedy.

Hun, I think I would be tempted to hire a bikie and make sure he can't do it again, BECAUSE HE WILL do it again.

This sickens me beyond words. It keeps me awake at night, this horrible feeling of impotence of not being able to do anything about it. I'm sure you are beyond rage by now. I really really feel for you and your poor boy. Don't trust men with children, it's sad but true. They are the ones who rape, and they are the paedaphiles, so live in reality and don't trust them with your children. Sorry to the many good guys out there (and I know women do sometimes do these things too) but it's a risk not worth taking with your children.

Where are the anti-war protestors, where are the we-hate-george-bush brigades - these people who purport to care, WHERE ARE THEY? Their silence is deafening, as is always the case when the issue isn't an anti-west agenda.

YES, the laws need to be changed --> to FORCE JUDGES to hand down HARSH sentences ONLY and to get rid of this insanity that is 'suspended sentences' and 'reduced sentences'.

My friend told me her sister married a cop, who arrested a drug dealer. This dealer's brother found out where the cop & my friend lived, waited til the cop was on duty at night, broke in, raped my friend and cut her throat. She managed to call police who found the bastard around the corner & arrested him. This evil man had been convicted of rape before, but apparently that's not permissable evidence in court. Her past, however, that she'd smoked pot and wore mini skirts, was allowed as character evidence, and the jury found him not guilty. (This was before DNA).
So the guy was let off, and one day the cop (who's life along with his wife had been ruined) by chance pulls over the rapist/attempted murderer for speeding. The cop in his distress pulls his gun on the evil man. The cops partner then pulls out her gun on the cop. The cop gets sacked from the police force and ended up a drug dealer in jail.
Why? Because the 'justice' system failed his wife and him and all of us completely.
PS - the rapist is on the street today. no doubt he's struck many more times.

Sickening.
i say castrate the b**tards...........it is what they deserve... oh it makes me so mad.... i'm assamed to be british too.... shall we move?????......xxx
Unfortunately this is also one of my soap box subjects so I'll try and be concise. Whilst I cant envisage what you have been through I have to congratulate you, personally I think I would have lost it, and then I would be sat in prison, the baby sitter would be waking, well hobbling, about laughing at British justice and my son would be without his father for a few years. You'll hear all sorts of liberal remarks on this site pandering to these animals, but prison is to good for some of them and I would defiantly hang the Ian Huntley's of this world, but you don't need me to tell you that. See starting to ramble... we do need a change in the law but don't hold your breath I'm afraid.. This is what I can't understand, if a right wing party came along and didn't focus on ethnicity like the BNP do, but was focused more on tougher justice and sentencing, then I think they would get a good shout, they would have my vote anyway
Take care

Sorry poster to use your question as a platform, but it seems where ever I go, what ever my point is, someone is following me around instantly thumbing me down, well oddball get a life and fu*k off. once again poster sorry but it's starting to get a bit weird,
I think you`re absolutely right. My young friend was stalked and raped by a guy and he got away with it coz 'there wasn`t enough evidence.' He`d been in prison a few years back for the same offence against another girl ! They said past history has nothing to do with it. I read in the paper - the truth is - they`ve got nowhere to put all these sex offenders - no space in prisons. So they keep walking our streets and abusing our children. Bet if tony blair`s child was sexually abused there`d be a change in the law preeeetttyy smartish........It`s shameful !
You have not given enough information for me to judge whether 18 months probation was a fair sentence or not, or to judge whether a change in the law is required. You also don't give enough info to judge what your responsibility was! Like how well did you know the baby sitter, how did you meet them, did you get references, how old was the baby sitter etc etc.
Appalling isn't it, don't know what the justice system is coming to. My Mum was shot along with her friend 19 years ago, it was a deliberate and pre-meditated killing, the guy got 8 years, 8YEARS!!!!! He served 4 of those, well just over 3 as he was in custody for 9 months before the trial. Does this make sense?????????

Put the nonces in the scariest prisons and let them suffer like their victims did.

Sorry to hear about your little one, I hope you all got through it OK
cut off their fingers, eyes and skin graph their penis to their legs. and bring in the public throttlings. not hanging though, we'll get rats.
I grew up with wonderful people who adopted me, they were foster carers for many more years and some of the cases were simply horrible. I think that the bigwigs who are handing these sentences out should have to spend time working alongside counsellers or carers of abused and neglected children , and also with abused children 1st hand as part of their training before coming qualified.
This way i guarantee sentences handed out would be alot more severe. These people who carry out these appalling crimes against our children absolutely sicken me, my heart and my sincere thoughts go out to you and your son.

This is the one thing which makes me madder than hell, every time. The law should reflect how we, as parents and caring human beings, feel about the depravity and absolutely disgustingness of these sort of crimes. It's all very well to say that it's the maximum sentence that the law allows - well the law needs changing then. As someone has already said, castrate that bastards, they won't do it again, will they?
the laws are unfair everywhere you go like here in the usa if a male gets caught he gets years. but most of the time if a female get caught she gets less time than a man if any time at all. I say screw the laws and turn the pricks over to the parents for justice . male or female.
disgusting isn't it
i remember some years back in England 2 boys kidnapped and beat a young child to death, they were given new identities and moved to Australia to live a free life because they were under age. What does that teach them? will they kill an Australian child next!
I think the judges and magistrates should be put on trial for not doing their jobs properly
I really think it is disgusting ..... These abusers do not realise the life sentence that the abused have to live with .....oh but let someone steal some money from the bank of england ....... this subject really is my soapbox subject so I will stop now .
I heard this on the news and what you forgot to mention was all 4 of them were women, they should have been put in jail, what they did was cruel. But for everyone else who answered this question i dont think you can castrate a female.
I dont think we need a change in the law as the law states they should go to prison, it is individual judges that interpret the law and make their decisions based on what the current home office guidance is regarding prison spaces etc. What we need is a new government who are really tough on crime and more prison places available. In addition judges who will support the police and give out decent punishments.
Yeah, I read about that earlier. It's sickening. It's not so much a change in the law but a change in the policy, the Judge could have sentanced them to prison but lately the Courts seem reluctant to send people to prison. It's sending out the wrong message that people can get away with behaviour. Society in general is going down hill and where these people should be made examples of with harsh punishment they get let off!

A slap on the wrist is not going to work, it seems the only option would be to stop ignoring the fact that there are more criminals about now and build more prisons so we can actually punish them.
