Is it ilegal to create pirate copies dvd even if it is just for you to watch in your home with your family????
and no one ever sees it and you never sell it or anything like that.
Yes.
If you have not bought a commerically produced copy of something and instead download it or copy it from a rental, it is theft of intellectual property. It's not vigorously gone after by the entertainment industry, but it is still a minor criminal offense. Selling it, that's when you can get in serious trouble.
If I take your car, but only drive it on my property, never take it on the road, is it still grand theft auto?
yer its still ilegal, but dont worry everyone does it, i do. lol
yes...this is stealing. This is no different than going to Best Buy and swipping the DVD off the shelf for your own personal use.
Copying recordings in a DVD is not punishable under the Copyright Law as long as it is not used for commercial purposes or for sale.
nope copy laws state you may make 1 back up copy of anything digital
It's ok to copy a DVD or CD as long as it's intended for personal use, it's only illegal when you attempt to make money from it by selling them.
Copywrite theft is a big NO with me. Why? Because I work in a cinema. And most pirate movies are recorded in cinemas. It's illegal, even if it is for personal use. I never hesitate to kick anyone I find doing this OUT of my cinema.
It is but you are highly unlikely to get into trouble.
If you mean copying rental dvd's then yes but what is the point of copying a dvd you've bought?
As long as you or a close family member owns the original you can clone a protection copy for family use.
It is illegal to borrow a copy from a friend and then clone it.
It is illegal to clone a video you have rented.
There are exceptions to the rule. The press may use or clone a copyrighted item if it's a part of a news story or review of the item. Libraries make make copies of anything they own. Schools may make copies of anything they own. Teachers may make copies of anything they own and provide them to students, so long as they provid them at no additional charge.
Buying pirate dvds/videos isn't a criminal offence but to both produce and sell them is. I'd watch it if I were you. If caught then you can get a maximum fine of about £5000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.
