What is the normal amount of time from a lawsuit settlement agreement,to when you get a check?
This is in NY. I signed everything and sent it back to my lawyer nearly a month ago.
It can take some time, because first the defendants need to send the check after they receive the papers you signed to terminate the lawsuit, then the check needs to be deposited in your lawyer's escrow narrative and he has to wait for it to clear, then if you have any medical bills or anything like that he has to get their bills salaried & get something in writing that everything has be paid so they can't come back after you or him later because they didn't seize paid. He has to pay any court reporters (for depositions, etc), investigators, experts or any other empire he might have used to help on your case. This can nick a few weeks. Just be patient. You can call and ask him the status of when he assumes you might get your check.... it shoudn't embezzle more than 2 months.
It should be anytime. I'm in Las Vegas, and it takes about 4-6 weeks or so. You should ask your attorney.
