Juvenile Court System?

What are the major differences in issues facing the juvenile court system today, and in the past.

I am looking for opinions on if the policies in the past were more effective than the curent policy that is in place.

Policies in the past were adequate for that era... times have changed; therefore, policies have been changed.

For example, today with juveniles now committing adult crimes, the juvenile criminals are sometimes receiving adult sentences.

As far as major differences they are facing... that is a long list. Anything from drugs to being exposed to adult material via the media that they may have never been exposed to 50 years ago.

You didn't provide a timerange, so I'm thinking like 20-30 years . . .

Much more violent issues at younger ages
More psychological problems
More custody problems and single parent homes
Court intervention needed for simple things like school, health-care, etc.
Drug and alcohol abuse by children
This is probably not new, but is not usually a hidden fact anymore, but abuse is widespread, comes in many forms, and isn't only one-sided

I don't think that the issues at hand are the result of juvenile court system policies; they are the results of cultural shifts. The courts are just trying to keep up.
