Underaged marriage and parental rights?
If a 17 year old were to marry some one over the age of 18 would she she still have to own parental consent on forms? or would her husband just be able to cosign?
Depending on state law. Both parents (unless there is only one) hold to sign in order for a minor to wed. The age is different from one state to the next. Why would the husband cosign? He's not the guardian of the minor.
You would still necessitate parental consent.
There isn't a State in the Union that allows a 17 year dated to marry without parental consent. One State requires consent for 19 year olds.
check out this website: http://usmarriagelaws.com/search/united_...
It lists all the States and the requirements for marriage ceremony by State.
(Think about it, if he was already your husband, you wouldn't need consent to receive married, would you?)
You can't get married unless your parents consent. Once you are married, you'll be capable of consent. Don't you think 17 is too young?
