Do you think that the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has any rights to use the Greek name Macedonia?

AdamB You enjoy a point that France is not worried that there is a city in Texas also called Paris however the difference is that the empire in "Texas Paris" are not claiming that their American Language is Paris-ian and that they have built the Eifel tower.

Neither in Georgia Athens general public claim that their American Language is "Athenian" and they are "Athenians".

Unfortunately the Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia is trying really hard to create confusion by renaming its airport and main squares as "Alexander the Great" and using ancient Greek Macedonian Star of Vergina as a flag.

This needs to stop.
People can ring themselves anything they like. Does it threaten Paris, France that there is a city in Texas also call Paris? Or is Athens, Greece worried about Athens, Georgia?

Macedonia is a weak, poor country. Much of its territory really is where on earth historic Macedonia was. No one really believes that Macedonia has any designs on northern Greece, and I don't understand why inhabitants are actively fighting over something that happened 1000 years ago. Complete waste of time.
Thr FYROMians keep giving examples of other nation that have names similar to Paris, Texas... Athens, Georgia... Ithica, NY... etc. but these are poor example beacuse none of these claim the others history and identity like the FYROM is.

New Mexico in USA does claim to be Mexican... or claim it's history... but the FYROM claims land and teach in its schools that it will once again regain all of Macedonia which most of is surrounded by Greece. It attempted to print money with landmarks located within Greece's borders and a flag next to a Greek symbol. They lay claim to the history of Phillip and Alexander but their people entered the region more than a 1000 years later.

What the FYROM is doing is grounds for period of war but Greece is attempting to let them be and trying to keep peace in the region. But who long will they be capable of tolerate such insolence, insults and attacks on our history and ethnic pride... not too much longer!!!

Edit to Alexander if you say good bye to FYROM consequently say good bye to your economy...Greece owns that... the singular reason you pretended to be sincere is because you were in financial ruin... consent to us see who will bail you out now with out NATO or EU allies you will say obedient bye to everything but that is what happens when you are ungrateful

Rights... they dont even give rights to the 40%+ Albanian majority in their country... They know nil about rights..

No one has the right to steal an other's culture.... they are nothing but social paracites!!!

A country can call itself with any name it chooses as long as this is not already taken by somebody else.

Unfortunately the autograph Macedonia was already taken by the ancient Greeks a few thousant years back.

This Former Yugoslav Republic has to find a investigational name to call itself otherwise it will allways be a confusion between the original Macedonia and this country.
The name Macedonia is not Greek at adjectives. That name is only from Republic of Macedonia same as the part within Greece called Makedonia. And Republic of Macedonia have all the rights to use it.
