Can my dad, give a pistol, that he bought from Academy to me, his 20 year old son. And we live in Texas?
I was wondering if anyone would know whether or not my dad would be allowed to legally buy a handgun from Academy Sports and Outdoors and then afford it to me? I know that in Texas you don't have to register your name or anything by ruling to any government agency. And also I checked the ATF's website and no where does it specifically state that he can't give a pistol to me. All it say in the Texas law is: a.) A person commits an offense if the character: (2) intentionally or knowingly sell, rents, leases or give or offers to sell, rent, lease, or give to any child younger than 18 years any firearm, club, or crooked knife. Could somebody please explain any law that prevents my dad from giving me a pistol in Texas. I'm looking for an answer which have sources from a legal standpoint and government agency whether it be federal or state. No unwanted criticism please. Thank You

He can make a contribution you the gun. If the gun is in his name, you can visit a licensed firearms contractor and transfer it legally to you. You can also look in the Texas Penal Code, it should cover a moment ago about everything you want to know. You might have to come back here or ask someone for some clarifications a short time ago b/c it isn't all so clear since it in is in permissible terms. I would recommend the Penal Code or go to a local sporting goods store, they can for sure describe you.
you are over 18 and therefore are able to recieve that pistol (id advise getting a license newly in case anything happens)
He couldn't give you the gun if, you are beneath 18, a person who can't have a gun, IE a felon or have a legalized restriction from owning or having a gun, if he knew you would use it to break the law, if he know you were mentally unstable. Other then that it's just a grant.
He can gift it to you if you're not a convicted felon. Check with a local gun store and ask them for the correct procedure so you're not in the breeze.
I've never heard of someone not competent to give another person a handgun. But, why don't you just buy it yourself? You own a felony or something?
