What is the law when it comes to parking on a single yellow line?

Someone keeps parking their massive British Gas van infront of my friends business and it is affecting his business but he says he doesn't want to cause a fuss.

This person parks his massive van from about 11:30am to about 2pm and then from 5pm till the next morning everyday. Sometimes his bum chum who drives the same van parks behind his van aswell completely blocking my friends business and leaving no space for customers to park.

What is the law and who can I call to give these fools a ticket or something?
If you believe that, somebody acted wrong with you, in this direction that you describe, are better to contact some authority or thing thus. I would make this, if she was you. But, he waits for new answers, somebody can have better ideas of what this. A hug and bye!
Simply call the police non-emergency number and explain it to them. Sounds like they person is parking illegally.

Answer:
Single Yellow Line = Waiting restriction but you need to check the sign plate out, it will usually read No waiting Mon - Sat 07.30 am - 06.00 pm this means you can't leave your car there between them times. Keep in mind, these people may be allowed to park there as they may have permission from your local council. Get in touch with your local councils parking team explain your mates situation and am sure they will be able to help you.
Firstly look for any signs along the street.

You can load, but that means regularly returning to the van. If you point this out to a parking warden they are likely to jump at the chance of issuing a ticket.
You can park on one after 6pm.But you must move the vehicle by the next morning, usually by 8am
single yellow lines indicate a part-time restriction (usually monday to saturday 0800 - 1800) indicated by nearby timeplates. Call the local council and ask for parking services, theyll happily get it checked out and book the guy (hopefully)
