Question about subpoena of records?

My husband and I are divorcing. Is there any way to supoena past employment records (he was fired twice for testing positive to marijuana) without hiring an expensive divorce attorney?
The actual forms differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. But they are normally known as a 'Notice to produce documents'. You need to ask your husband on the form to produce whatever documents you desire. You can also issue the Notice to produce documents to the past employers. They may or may not produce the docs. The real question is why you would want this anyway, perhaps to impugn his father skills. Won't likely work.
If you have children and both of you are not agreeing, get a divorce lawyer. You need a flat rate, not an hourly rate. It will be up to him to subpoena whatever is necessary.

Answers:
You may file a Ex-Parte, Pro-Se Motion for 'Subpoena Deuces Tecum' which interprets as 'Bring With You' to Court, all requested Records. You could also try Subpoenaing the former Bosses or Supervisors as Character Witnesses.
