What is the legal smoking age in Ireland?

the drinking age is 16 i know but what is the smoking age?

The drinking age is 18, not 16. It's illegal to buy cigarettes if you're under 18 and people who look younger are supposed to be asked for ID. I don't know how often this happens, however.

I know that it used be 16 but now I think the Scottish executive has aproved the age be raised to 18 (with proper ID) to purchase them, so I presume that you could be fined if caught smoking in public if under that age as well. Good luck.
