Are the gun laws making a difference in Canada? Why?

Sure. Murder and other violent crimes are now TWICE as high per 100,000 residents surrounded by Canada, compared to the U.S.

So much for gun control legislation.
yes, nearby are far less gun related murders in Canada then the United States.

however-- the culture surrounded by Canada probably also plays a role
Yes they are.

Like everywhere else where gun ownership by law-abiding citizens has been more strictly curtailed, the result have been a dramatic rise in firearm crimes.

When criminals KNOW that their victims won't be armed, they are emboldened to use guns within the commission of a crime more frequently. The gun laws, of course, are zero deterrent to the criminal - he's ALREADY intending to break the canon, why would he care about one more?

Almost every law makes a difference. Wether it is for the good or desperate of law abiding citizens is another story. While it is true unintentional fire arm deaths hold dropped in Canada the use of firearms in crime has increased dramatically. Now you no longer own to worry about someone you know "accidently" shooting you. You just enjoy to worry about the criminals who really don't care. I unbelievably much doubt whether the statistic quoted by SENIOR CITIZEN is true.

I have not seen these figures. Google does not quote such info.

Of course we all care about safekeeping and a crime free society. Unfortunately it does not exist, despite the heroic efforts of our courts, our police or our elected officials.

The causes of crime are still duplicate : poverty, poor upbringing, racism, drugs, alcohol excess and greed.

Gun availability surely must be a factor, despite arguments to the contrary.
