No. I find the ones I know to be affable. Just keep in mind that public defender have high case loads. They're almost other in a rush. Just keep your conversations direct and you'll get along fine. :) It will assistance to take notes, so you can remember things s/he explained later, if you hold an emotional stake in this case. Also, write down Qs you hold for the attorney as they come to you, so you can get them all answered quickly. Public defender get a undeserved bad rap. Most clients don't realize that the material work that is put into their case is in the reading (all the paperwork file in their case and all the research into shield law and precedents), and the writing (of all the motions); not actually chitchat to them. The truth is, PDs get more trial time than most private lawyers, and spend most of their time working out plea agreements for narcotics charges. They love the chance to win one. If you're really innocent; they're the ones you want. :)
