is it legal to live in your detched garage?


we have turned our garage into a back room. there is no bathroom within it but we took the garage doors out and made it look like a little house. its really nice inside but anyways one of our neighbors has one that be not fixed up like ours and the city came and said that it was unlivable and made the couple that be living there move out. now they are threatning to tell the city in the region of our room and the couple that lives in ours. we live in fresno ca if that helps

not contained by this locality...a living area needs to have dampen and sewage here...check with the city for requirements
Since your neighbors didn't clean up their problems, their fault not yours. They cannot threaten you but if they did you should sue them to force them to stop. It is unofficial for a city to force you to force a couple who pay rent to you to live in the detached garage since your garage was up to the code. I suggest you check the city codes and state codes also.
