Do you think there should be the Arnold Law?
What do you think about the Arnold Law? California is trying to get a law passed so unnatural born citizens can run for president after they have lived here for so many years. This way Arnold can run for president. Do you agree or disagree?
Yes, I believe unnatural citizens should be allowed to become President, but with a few restrictions.
First, they should be legal since first coming in. None of this coming into the U.S. and gaining citizenship later. If this is not the case, then we would have lawbreakers running for President.
Second, they should be required to have been living in this country for 20 years before they are eligibe to run. This would weed out those who move here JUST to become President, JUST to change immigration laws.
Last, they (of course) need to follow the other Constitutional requirements to become President.
Also, this law shouldn't be passed just to try to get Arnold to become President. Supporters of this Amendment NEED to understand the serious implications of this change.
I disagree. We'd have a billionaire master turning the US into a dictatorship in no time.
Answers:
ABSOLUTLY NOT. One's loyalty to the USA should never be weighed against the native nation of the president. Last thing we need is either a manchurian candidate, or a president who is second guessed because of their nationality.
Well as all things do they change, But to let the terminator be President? He seems to have a heart in the right spot, more than what I can say about Junior Bush. I miss his dad.
I don't even think he should be governor another term, much less president, and it has nothing to do with where he was born.
I think you need to be a natural-born citizen to be president, otherwise I think Madeleine Albright would be an excellent choice for president.
I really need to think more about why I think this should be the case -- that a president needs to be born in the country they serve. I know that their allegiance needs to be without question, but why that is proven by place of birth, I'm not exactly sure why I believe that....
Good question.
