7am-6pm Work day-not allowed to sit?

My boyfriend works these hours, breaks are fair. He is a parts person at a honda place and inputs orders into the computer and answers the phone, office type work. He was given a stool to sit on in front of his computer. His co worker had the same thing. His boss took his away and said he was tired of looking at it and does not want him sitting at all, but his co worker can. All men are white so I don't think its a race issue, Are there in laws in Arizona or over all against this treatment?
Not really ~

In college, I used to work in factories, and it was the SAME thing. (It was those @#$#%, @#$^^, @()$#, factory jobs that busted my butt, and pushed me to get 4.0 GPA's in college).

At least he is not doing doing factory type work. That would be brutal.

But if he thinks that is unfair, then I would contact the Department of Labor in AZ. They can provide more details on the legality of this issue.
Hmmmm, time to call the Better Business Bureau and find out what the law says.

Gee, you guys are harsh today! Okay - not the BBB - what about this:

www.workersrights.org/ www.workersrights.org

Holds Corporations accountable to supporting worker rights by enforcing codes of conduct.

I wish you well!
There is nothing unfair about this practice. Sitting down implies sloppy looking, lazy employees. They are doing what is best of the image of the company. If he can not handle this, perhaps looking for another job is in order.
No wonder I work for myself
thats crazy to take away a chair while you are sitting by a desk inputting work on the computer, thats really harsh and unfair. I dont think a boss is suppose to do that. The boss is too worked up about getting money so he tries to work people to death.
If I were your boyfriend I would complain. Cause that is not fair treatment of employees.
your bf should tell his boss that it isn't fair and that it is discrimanation. he probably just doesn't like your bf. maybe he should quit his job.
tell him to tap his bosses wife. then quit. His boss is being a bastard for no reason. Quit!
better business bureau? i had to laugh at that answer.!!forget the answer!1.contact osha.they have all the rules of the work place
if his boss tells him to stand he should stand or quit , a boss is there to tell the workers what to do
if he works for honda is there a union? if so he needs to see his union rep. if no union he needs to call the labor board and report this. although everyone is white it could still be a case of discrimination. it is inhuman to ask a person to stand for 11 hrs. i don't know if there is an arizona law but there are federal laws covering harassment in the workplace.
Tell your boyfriend to quit crying to you, and confront his boss. If this doesn't work, he should go to his boss's boss. If this is not possible, he should find a better job.
I would totally call someone about that. Thats morally unfair and cruel. If that doesn't work tell him to QUIT. Standing for that long does a number on your back
Another brutal job is the one i had in the Movie theater. A full shirt from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. That involved standing up and ripping tickets all day. It was horrible, I would suggest that he should quit!!

Answers:
There are companies that require you to stand all day like cashier jobs etc. However, standing for long periods can cause ugly veins like vericose or spider veins. Here in Florida, it is required that there is a special mat in place to avoid health issues in the legs. Your boyfriend should mention this to his boss and see if he changes his mind because that stool is much cheaper than the special mat. I don't know if it's required where you live but I think it's worth mentioning. Also, if his co-worker is allowed to sit, it's no question whether your boyfriend can sit or not. The answer is, yes. He can sit. If I were him, I would bring my own stool and sit at my computer. That way, his boss cannot take what does not belong to him. Sounds like he has some personal issues against your boyfriend. He needs to get over it!!
