Can someone please tell me if you can holiday in the States of you have a criminal record?
I have a few convictions. Two for assault (one on an officer) drink driving and drunk and disorderly. I have none for dishonesty (stealing) and none for drugs. The last conviction be from last May for assaulting an officer. I was stupid I know, I went through a complicated time. Do U think it will vary from state to state? BTW I am from the UK
it will not prevent you traveling state to state, and entering the states it shouldn't be a problem any. your best bet is to contact the american embassy and double check. when you enter the country and going through customs your record may come up (when they scan your passort), it shouldn't prevent you from entering but it may cause a bit of a headache. so i would contact the embassy first.
They'll permit anyone do anything if you find the right police district and judge to pay off.
you MAY have a problem getting hold of entry to the US; it will depend on whether the convictions are classed as 'spent'. Your best bet would be to get in touch with the US embassy and ask them...
US Constitution, Article IV, Section 2, "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to adjectives Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States." If you have the right to travel within your own state, you hold the right to travel in any other state.
