What would you do if this happened to you...?

Night before last, I poured half of my 20oz. bottle of Coke into a cup of ice. As I was drinking it, I nearly choked on a jagged piece of plastic that apparently had come out of the Coke. The piece of plastic actually looks to be the same as what the bottle is made from, but the bottle is not damaged in any way.

I saved the piece of plastic and the bottle it came from. What do I do now?

This country is full of frivolous lawsuits, and I didn't actually get hurt or anything, but I do think someone or the Coca-Cola company should be made aware of this. I just don't know who to contact or what to do about it.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
You should definitely contact the company and let them know. I agree with the posters who said to take a picture and save the bottle and piece of plastic. I don't think it's worth filing a lawsuit as long as you weren't hurt. Lawsuits cost a lot of money and you're unlikely to get a lot of damages from having a stray piece of plastic in your coke which didn't injure you. The only other damages you could get for something like this would be something like emotional trauma, and finding a piece of plastic in your Coke probably didn't damage you or cause you emotional trauma. I think a lot of the frivolous lawsuits you hear about from day to day are filed by people in bad faith who are just trying to get a settlement, regardless of whether their case has merit. It sounds like you are against doing that and really just want to handle the situation properly, so good job! The world needs a few more people like you.

I think if you go to Coke's website you may be able to find a phone number you could call, they could at least give you a starting point for who to report the problem to.
i would write a letter to the company and let them know. but keep the piece of plastic. take a picture of it and send it to them
u cant prove it came from that bottle just tell coke about it . u cat win a law suit
I would just forget about it.you weren't hurt, don't waste the court's time.
you just landed a gold mine. choke on it and rip the inside of your mouth a little and go to the ER. lol.

suing is the only way they will notice.
If that happened to me, I wouldn't file a lawsuit, but I would tell someone from Coca-Cola about it.

You can go to coke.com (or coca-cola.com, whichever one you want), click North America, click the United States, look to the bottom-right of the page, click 'Contact Us' and then tell them. You should get a reply soon.
Bring it back to the store you bought it from and file a consumer complaint. They will send it to the manufacturer and at the very least they should give you some free samples, etc.
^There's an 800 number on the label of the bottle for questions or comments. Call the number and talk to the customer relations person who answers. They will want to know certain information from the label and from the cap, so I hope you saved them.
Usually when something unusual like that happens, they will send you coupons for a free product, and put your name on a mailing list for future coupons. You will receive a letter signed by a real person (instead of a stamp) apologizing for the incident and assuring you they will 'look into ' the incident. If you ask, they will also actually tell you the result of their findings.
I, also, object to frivolous lawsuits, and I am sure the company is intending to sell its product, not kill off its customers.

I would contact the company and tell them what happened under the guise that you're 'concerned about a quality control issue' and that although you nearly swallowed it and didn't get hurt, someone may, potentially. You genuinely did get a jagged piece of plastic in your bottle, so it's not like you're trying to pull one over on them. I'd be interested to see what they might do. You'll probably get some free product at the most.

Remember, this is one of the largest corporations in the world and are used to this sort of thing. I seem to recall a dead-mouse-in-the-bottle scheme years ago. And, hey, you may get some of your favorite beverage, gratis.
kris do what R and I did we had the same thing happen when we got a bag of chips and we got a gob of glue or something so we called the company number on the bag and they took our info sent us a envelope and had us mail the pieces back in turn they gave us coupons for free products and they werent happy with the workers involved they told us someone would be fired due to this happening. and I know you kris so you got to be careful with these things especially in your condition
