Answers:
as a law enforcement officer heres the next steps.
the case will be turned over to a prosecuting attorney, if they decide the case warrants criminal charges they will issue them and require you to appear in court.
at this point you will have a court date and have to talk to a judge about the situation, have a lawyer for this! i cannot stress this more, your looking at paying a few hundred dollars and they will get you out of almost everything probably just a few community serivce hours,
if they dont' issue charges you wont hear from them, sounds to me what happende to you was a bail hearing. which is a presentation of information to see if you would require bail or should be held in jail until charges are filled..so my advice is sit back relax. if they do file charges get a lawyer a case like yours will prob only run a few hundred...but if you don't hear from them dont fix it cause you never know if you were the luckey one to fall through the cracks
If you can't afford a lawyer ask for a Public Defender they can assist you with pretrial information and tell you what may happen to you. It varries from state to state so ask a lawyer for better information. I work for Misdemenor Probation
