What is your view point on Chinese manufacturing?

In light of recent events that have shown China's lack of following american set guidelines for product manufactured there how do you feel? What should be done? If you were in charge and could fix it what would you do! Can't wait to see the various answers.
That's what you get when a cheap price trumps safety.
Hey, I could live without dollar stores!
China is taking the complaints very seriously. Hell they executed the guy who was in charge of that part of the Government. Like it or not, china is producing affordable products for us and the world. We have a huge economy and China wants our business. We will need to go to a 100% QC on our end while China gets their issues worked out. In the meantime, don't buy anything from China. I don't and haven't for 2 years. Give China an opportunity to fix it.
Chinese manufacturing is obviously flawed. I won't buy things made in China if I can help it.

You get what you pay for.
i feel there should be a ban on genuine chinese products due to recent poison scares of wheat gluten in pet food and
poisonous materials in toothpaste.
I seem to remember a huge Bausch and Lomb recall..

What is your view point on American manufacturing?

Point is, you're painting with too broad a brush.
Not to sound like a comi but I think we should slap a major tax on shipping. This would encourage us to be more self sufficient and help our economy. Maybe people would buy chevy's instead of kia's. It would keep most of China's toxic garbage out of our country and reduce the carbon used to ship garbage all over the world. Maybe our manufactures could stay in business and not be smothered out by China's poison.
I think it's all just showing us that we need to buy as much american made stuff as we can. I live in Michigan and we really, really need jobs here... but here we continue to by junk from China. The thing that really cracks me up are the 'patriots' that shop at Walmart all the time... so many of their goods come from china, it's ridiculous.
well you see theres ways to circumvent that problem. i dont know specifically about chinese made products but i do know - for example - we have these state jobs right that specify American Made products right ? Well we're buying them American manufacturers but the material is being imported from China. So we buy pipe from wheatland - they make it from steel they bought from China. Kinda a grotesque scam but what do I do ? Also in light of the fact that America is floating the chinese economy because of all we borrow from them to fund the stupid war - I'm sure youll be seeing a difference in their products (as well as other ventures they're moving into due to their newfound cache of gold) air space travel, major infrastructure -airports, roadways, etc.
Well what do you expect from underdeveloped people that all look the same?
I don't shop at Wal-Mart.

Well, I take it back. Two days ago I went there to buy a fan but waited in line for over 15 mins and it looked like I had another 30 to go. I just put it down and walked out. I picked up one at Wal-Greens for a few dollars cheaper. Always the Low Price my @$$.
The New God P.B.P (profit before people) hail to thee great shareholder

I know first hand; it's the most corrupt and selfish group of immoral business people- Chinese government supported, the world has ever known. They openly counterfeit branded products, violate patents without a care, make defective products, don't follow any moral codes in business.

You can't do business there without having someone in the Chinese government or military involved.

No wonder Wal Mart has become their best friend, two birds of a feather.
