That's messed up that they wouldn't allow you to pick it up and avoid this situation. The only thing you can do is report it to the Dept of Labor, right very soon. If that doesn't work and they claim they don't owe you or something shady like that you will have to sue them civilly.Hopefully that doesn't have to evolve because that takes money.
