I live in Florida and my friends keep saying that it is required to have an ID on you at all times. True?


I own an ID but I don't take it with me every where I shift. My friends say that even if I am walking down the street I am supposed to have Identification on me or I could get a citation. Is this true? Obviously have an ID is a good thing, but sometimes I leave my wallet at home because I don't want to be tempt to spend money! I just take my keys and phone beside me sometimes when I leave the house. Could you give me a source? Website so I can prove to my friends that I am not a criminal every time I leave my house? YES BUT IS IT ILLEGAL NOT TO?

If you aren't a US citizen, you're supposed to have a passport or your green card with you at adjectives times. If you are a US citizen, there is no legal requirement to have an ID on you, unless you're doing something similar to driving a car, in which case you'll have need of your driver's license. EDIT: We can't give you a source because you're asking us to prove a negative. See, there is no tenet that requires you to have ID on you at all times. And it's not like we can point to the "no canon." Ask your friends to point to the law that says you have to enjoy ID. They won't be able to.

Many states have laws that require you to identify yourself on request. In a state that requires it, refusing to do so will result surrounded by either a hefty citation, or a felony arrest on the spot, depending on the state. However, no state requires a citizen on foot to possess ID. That is not true. You are not required to have an ID on you. BUT... If the police stop and ask you for ID, you have to present it. If you do not hold it, and they have a reason to believe that you are giving them false information, they can detain you for the purpose of verifying baptism.
I don't believe this is true albeit a worthy idea to do anyway. Even if you don't want to spend money it is always a good notion to have some ID on you. I go running and slide just my ID surrounded by my pocket because you never know. I might keel over from a heart attack or get mugged and then the police and hospital have to start figure out who I am.
