Can Texas Split Into 5 States?
Is it possible for Texas to split into 5 states with 2 senators each? I read an article about it but I lost it. Does anyone know anyone just about this?
Best Answer:
From what I understand Texas may have lost the right to divide into five when it get re-admitted to the Union during reconstruction.
Any state can be split into smaller states, or even joined together to form a larger state, as long as the state(s) legislature and Congress approve. .
Of course not.
Texas was not assumed by the United States. Texas be a soveriegn nation (Republic) when BY TREATY it became a state in 1845. Texas is that ONLY state that can fly its flag at the same elevation as the U.S. flag, and yes, Texas can, at any time it chooses, divide in to five smaller states.
My understanding is that Texas is unique contained by that it can WITHOUT approval from the US Congress split into 5 states as that was an agreement between the United States and Texas when Texas joined the United States as a state
Yes, but it's unlikely. There is no historical basis to the claim that Texas may secede though. You can easily research on the network through outlets such as Google and find reputable sources.
