Michael vick and a plea bargain: I know it cuts down on costs or so, but why allow him to plea to anything?

prosecute to the full extent of the law!--
severe jail time
no more nfl for him

what do all of you think?
plea bargains allow for sloppy lazy cops to not waste time doing a good job and saves money for more donuts.
I think allowing him to plea bargain and taking a HUGE fine is a good idea. He's already screwed with the NFL and all his endorsements have fallen through. Going through a whole trial just for the same ends (remember OJ?) would just waste the taxpayers' money.

Answers:
Because it's an inefficient use of judicial resources. Why waste the court's time, prosecutors' time, and police officers' time going to court when they could be out prosecuting other people or investigating other people, and the defendant is willing to admit to a charge, take punishment and move on
(And remember, even if he were prosecuted for his highest charge, that doesn't necessarily mean that the punishment will be the highest possible... depending upon the state, it may be fixed by 'sentencing guidelines' or it may be left to the discretion of a parole board...)
If you can get a guarantee punishment that is still fair, that will always be better than going to trial. Anything could happen when a trial occurs.
