Why do Government and union employees have a bad reputation?
Notice I used the word employee and not worker!
Best Answer:
Because the Republican party contained by this country has made a living off of bad mouthing what they really don't want most of their unschooled followers to participate in or benefit from. For example, public education, healthcare, safekeeping belts on school buses, S.S, low gasoline prices, workmen comp, choice, even registering to vote, equal justice under the regulation.................
because republicans always have to finger point. Everything is other someone else's fault
Don't listen to the first guy...he's an idiot (and the guy above me.). If you watch any, ANY, Democratic politician they always point their fingers at empire (especially Barrack "I'm Never Wrong" Obama) Just look at how all Democrats blame the Republicans for all our problems! Now, Did you ever see Bush point the finger? Or Richard Nixon? Or Abraham Lincoln! (Yes, he was Republican). See Republicans are true men and cart the bullet instead of throwing their friends in its path. Now, onto the question. The foundation people hate the government is: They are p*ssies that solitary care about being popular (except for a couple presidents here and near {Like Nixon in my opinion} who only care in the region of the good of the country but they always get booed out of bureau anyways) and care about making money instead of actually solving our problems. I own a quote to tell a good politician from a bad one. "If race hate you, you are doing a damn good job." Just look at Hitler! People loved him (in Germany at least). Now, look at Abraham Lincoln, family hated him (until years later.) They called him an ape, a buffoon, an idiot. But, what can you do? He saw the world needed devolution and tried to bring it around. Who wouldn't hate that (That's a joke). Now, the reason people can`t bear Unions is because the Union Heads simply use it as an excuse to take from the little man who is supposedly in the Union (like myself at one point) so that they can become rich and then, once the Union Heads are nearly to lose their jobs, can call on you to help them because "you're subdivision of the Union." Does that answer your question?
The elected representatives makes their money off taxpayers. Very rarely do organization employees get laid off . Union workers are getting a discouraging rap right now because they were put above everyone else in the auto bailouts. I hold no respect for the unions - they protect their members just to row their pockets. Union dues are astronomical to insure lobbies in Washington DC - guess it is paying off big time.
I worked for the City of New York's Human Resources Administration through a temp agency. The city's HRA handled adjectives of the welfare offices and other assistance programs offices through-out the five boroughs. I swear the city employees are saints!!! No business what was said to them, they seemed to understand that the relations that they were helping needed help and took care of them. I especially admired the certainty that the city hired -- almost always on a temporary basis -- relations on welfare and low-risk non-violent prisoners who were granted work release. Some couldn't spell the word house or carpet. I know in my heart that those WEP and WRP team would never stand a chance of getting hired by anyone else. But they weren't given special treatment. They were expected to do a good livelihood (to the best of their abilities of course. (= DON'T READ THE REST UNLESS YOU'RE REALLY BORED!!! =) I've been surrounded by several unions too. That's a different story. In my opinion there are three different scenario for unions: 1) The well established and strong professionals in the construction business: Iron Workers, Electricians, Boilermakers, Operating Engineers, etc... True professionals within every sense of the word when it comes to work 2) The large but hard to manage intermediate locals from union such as the United Food & Commercial Workers. The locals for this union sees a high turnover rate of leisure employees and the supermarkets that employs the union sponsorship seldom gives employees a full-time position. There is very little solidarity in attendance and the union reps for these intermediate sized locals do what they can to discourage its membership from sticking up for itself. The reps say to the political leanings when they call with a complaint: "The company has the right to run things the process they want". If you get fired, they'll do nothing unless you fight the alliance to force them to represent you. 3) Then there are what I like to call the micro-locals from union such as the Teamsters. You find these locals at companies and warehouses that run their shops like hell. They're nothing more than sweat shops demanding spinal column breaking work for minimum wage and then they fire most of its workforce before the next contract parley come up. And, the union won't fight for the members that be fired. My theory on this is they're happy with the turover rate because they return with both the dues AND initiation fees. Many of those locals are -- as they say -- "in the pocket" of the owners. Not all the Teamster locals... some are fantastic. I'm chitchat about those small, middle of no where warehouses and companies. To bring these unions to represent you, you almost always have to jump to that state's labor board and launch a complaint. Finally, yes, the republicans get the biggest spotlight and trash hard working Americans (union or not, and government body especially) any chance they get while democrats seem to turn their back on unions whenever they think they can get away near it. While all the time, lazy people protected by the union seal the deal. However, I can tell you that contrary to popular myth, slothful workers do get weeded out and fired (or pressured to leave) a lot faster than you are lead to believe. That's a fact!
Because a majority of them earned the label and spoiled it for the few who are exceptional.
Unions promote sameness and mediocrity, something that is anathema to most Americans pursuing excellence and hard work.
