Smoking and man hours at work?

how many man hours will b lost when people who smoke have to get out of cars,vans etc for a smoke?how will management cope if people have to leave grounds for a ciggie?everyone sats people want a smoking ban but what about jobs that r involved with tobacco? also where will the taxes come from after a ban?

Why would there be any lost hours. Smokers will just have to learn to go a few hours without.
Non smokers can't say Oh I just want to go and have sex/go shopping/pick my nose etc. So why should smokers be allowed to keep going off to feed their addictions!

Well it can be done. My employer employs about 3000 people (I don't know how many are still smokers). We have had a smoking ban on company propery for the last 4 years - that means inside and outside (only place you are allowed to smoke is inside your vehicle). At my store we have about 140 employee's and there are smokers. We have our two fifteen min breaks and our lunch break. If we smoke we are expected to go to our cars and do it during those times.
Is there abuse and people taking longer breaks?? I'm sure at times there is - but the majority of people do stay on time.
For those that don't have a car they either walk off the property to have a smoke or they borrow the use of a car from someone else to have their smoke break.
Ok, lets cut to the chase here, the lives saved by people putting cigarettes out will be far greater
I think the government will recuperate that money some how and you will notice it when it happens but it will happen and there is nothing you can do about it.
There are so many man hours lost already because of cigarette breaks but nobody says anything about this, if you are a non smoker and want to take a break it is seen in a different light, it is frowned upon if you have a break.
The smoking ban is about power and nothing more .

Without smokers the Tobacco Barons must bow to the law and the balance of power is restored .
People will not be allowed to just leave working premises for a smoking break - they have no legal right to do so.
There are people who are in employment with an alcohol problem, but they are not allowed to leave work for 10 minutes to have a swift half!
You have to balance any jobs lost in the tobacco industry against the money and time saved within the NHS having to treat people who are ill through tobacco-related illnesses.
The taxes part is the real concern. You don't really believe that the Government wants us to stop smoking do you ? They will make it harder for us to smoke , but, you notice that there is no effort to stop selling them. The revenue that is collected by the Government is too high on tobacco that I am not worried that it will go away. It will be taxed more. At some point smokers need to choose whether they want to support this tax revenue anymore. Quitting on your own would be a good choice.
its a joke, the nhs get all the smoking money, so they will be losing money, i understand in restaurants and around anywhere that sells food, but in pubs and clubs its not fair, the only thing you can smell now is peoples BO, which is not nice, hope that helps all the best

Employers will just have to accept the extra time involved in allowing smokers to have a smoke break. Ones who don't will either have to accept smokers won't apply for jobs with them or discriminate against smokers getting a job......
