Can i get my case sealed if i got charged for battery as a juvnile in CALIFORNIA?
i was a 17 year old when it happened i go to juvnile court i got charged with battery misd. i construe the reason i want to seal my case is because i obligation i firearm clearance as a police officer and i was told that if you have a violent charge as a juvnile or as an fully fledged you can not carry, buy, conseal a firearm and you can not be a police officer. i tried to be cleared through DOJ and i was declined because of my BAttery charge within high school iam 21 right now. if you hold anything please let me know.
Juvenile cases are usually sealed. However, "sealed" cases are available lower than certain circumstances, and that includes applying for law enforcement positions, weapons permit. Big mistake, and a law enforcement career is closed to you.
You need it "expunged", not sealed. See the following state-run website:
http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/oth...
If you google "California expunge", you will find numerous private websites on this topic, for example:

Juvenile records are not automatically sealed, but if this be just a simple battery case you can petition the juvenile court to stamp your record 5 years after you got off probation. Five years after the seal order, the records will be destroyed. (Welfare and Institutions Code section 781. )
ibu guru is incorrect in the order of the effect of sealing: "Once the court has ordered the person's records hermetically sealed, the proceedings in the case shall be deemed never to enjoy occurred, and the person may properly reply accordingly to ANY inquiry more or less the events, the records of which are ordered sealed." (WIC 781(a).) The only exceptions to this are slander proceedings and DMV records which can be disclosed to insurers.
If you were 17 at the time of the offense, I assume you were on probation at tiniest until you were 18, so there are a couple of years yet since you can seal your record.

Note, the expungement procedures (also discussed at that network site) are for adults, not juveniles, and result in LESS help with a journal than is available for juveniles.
