Does a marriage license give our children to the state?
I know I asked this once before but I didn't really get any good answers. I have read online in two places that the marriage licence binds the state as the third party in a marriage and gives the seed of the marriage to the state as well as all their assets. Also any individual who marries a couple with petitioning the state for a marriage license is to be fined with a 10,000$ fine
Why do you believe stuff you read online? It's total bull.
You need to cite your references. You are clearly misunderstanding the things you are reading online, but I can't make any sense of your question as written.
No-one gives their children to the state!
WTF, Steven? No. No. No. Maybe you didn't get any 'good' answers because whatever you read on line is so wrong--unless you're not in the U.S. In that case, I have no idea where that is true. Do you think people would get married if marriage gave the state a right to their children?
absolutely not, I think, it just certifies that you are merried
Absolutely not. The reasons for a marriage license, from wikipedia:
The rationale in such states for marriage licenses is that the state has an overriding right on behalf of its other citizens to protect them from disease or improper marriages being performed, to keep accurate state records, or even to assure that marriage partners have had adequate time to think before marrying, in the interests of the greater society.
On the other hand, if you die without a legal will, the state has control over who gets your assets and where your children go.
they are just witnessing it, they have no right to anything in your marriage.
I don't know were you got your information or if it is true but it would be a cold day in HELL before I allowed the state to take my kids. I do however think it is intrusive of the state to grant a license for marriage perhaps the we as a people need to tell them that it is none of there damn business.
If that were true (the state being the 3rd party in a marriage), then a lot of women would be asking the state for spousal support as well as child support!
Also, if a person performing a marriage could be fined 10k, do you really think they would be doing it?
Answer:
HUH???
This makes no sense. Are you sure you read and understood this correctly?
