I'm being hounded to pay for a service I've never used although I did sign to use...?

I am at fault here but there's got to be a way out of this. Ok, so a couple of years ago, I go camping and like a fool, at the end of camp, I was asked to sign a contract (which admitedly, I did sign) stating that I would pay $5,000 to be a member of this military camp site. What this meant was that I could come back and use the military camp site any time etc. So I signed and gave them $500 up front and over time, I've given them an additional $600. At the time, I didn't know better and I signed it thinking that maybe this would be nice to shift camping there again. I've never gone there since. i've also lost my commission. And to make matters worse, I reviewed the contract again and not only did they emergency the $5,000, but they demand an additional $1,400 per year for "maintenance fees". The problem is I signed it. The facts are that I never enjoy used their facility (except that one time as a guest). so, i've never used it as a "member" and I never will go back there. It be just a big dumb mistake. Now, they're trhetening to sue me and they have a Collection Agency on me! I have worthy credit and always pay my bills, but this seems wrong. I call these people and they refuse to cancel the contract and are demanding I wages them all this money for something I've never used. Is there any way out of this? I deem it's a bit criminal and I'd expect them to have a heart, but it seems like I own no choice. Once you sign a contract, is there no way out of it? I've called them and they're unfolding me: "too bad for you". Any ideas???????????

You signed it, so you're pretty much stuck, however you can contact them and ask how much it would take to buy your instrument out of the contract. If it's gone to a collection agency it's quite likely the debt has be sold and most agencies will settle for a portion of the debt. Good luck.
"Any ideas???????????" Yes. Don't sign contracts unless you're sure you want to go through with them. You enjoy bought the 'right' to use the site, and you owe the $5,000 plus maintainance fees. They "might" be willing to settle for a reduced amount to buy yourself out, but that's all you can ask. Richard
