What can be done? My Family's business had 1,000$ stole with a bad check from a woman who's known to steal..

We know her name and went to the address on the check, but that's her old address. The post bureau won't give us the current address without a warrant.. the cops or whoever.. most likely enjoy all of this information, but they're being stupid, so we're going to have to do this ourselves... what can we do?
Get a warrant. It's that simple. If it's a desperate check, you have every right to sue her for the amount of that check plus as much as $25 charge for the bad check AND court costs.
Contact your local district attorney. Saying the cops are being "stupid" doesn't minister to much, as it leave the reader with no information about what the problem might be. you could try small claims court. they will know how to serve her with papers and then can take her to court..
