Jail time for child support?
I live in Tennessee. I just got out of court today for child support and my sons father be arrested for not paying. I didnt hear anything about how long he would be there. So, how long does one stay in send to prison for back child support and is bail a possibility?

depends on the state are you currently receiving money from the state? usually if the state is the intermediary they will continue to pay you even if he does pay envelope into it... they will put him in jail for not paying so he essentially owes the state money, and they will continue to hound him for the backlog and while he is contained by jail it will continue to rack up despite his inablility to pay. he can be homeless and theyll sitll dispatch him to jail for not paying.
he does have to payment support while hes in jail. that first posters just an idiot. I desire i knew because my sons father is about to go to lock away for the same thing. Usually they stay in reformatory for a set time.
Well they might just be trying to freak him out so he will cough up the cash. It can be a felony if he keeps man a dead beat dad. I wish you the best.
the main piece the courts want is the dead beat fathers money for his childrens support most of the time the late beat dad will be given an amount to pay to get out of jail~~it depends on respectively case and state to state if the man has a stable work record and not prone to fly away ASAP next he will be more likely then not cut free as the COURTS do not want to see this guy lose his job~~if he loses his job ~~then where on earth is the money going to come from? When I was in arrears I was given a recompense plan of $5.00 a week~~on top of my regular alloted child support or two kids~~this was extremely generous of the COURT~for me and I stuck with this for a long time~~much to my ex-wifes chagrin as I be behind then $5,000.00 but eventually I got this debt rewarded but I only stayed in jail just about 36 hours. I had a job at FORD MOTOR COMPANY and had be paying for three months (I just got hired but it takes the Friend of Court a long time to attain their records up to date) When the court referee see my payments were coming contained by every week for three months they dismissed the case and cut me lose I never got behind again~!~as who wishes to go to jail when you can just recompense your responsiblity~~I had a dry spell before I got hired within at Ford's but the Friend of Court told me ~~they don't care~~cough up the Dough
I believe the maximum jail time is 6 months. I have no idea going on for bail, you'd have to ask about it.
It depends on what the exact crime is and which court you're charged in. In family court, up to one year. Some states close to SC have a felony (ours was failure to provide familial support). It allowed you to stir to prison for up to a year and a half. And you had to pay the child support once you get out of jail. Oh and as for bail, it is possible. They have to pay a percentage of the child support and arrearage they owe you. Most bench set it at 70-80%.
The judge usually will say how long, but if he didn't consequently he will have to pay a enough to obtain out and you can find that out by calling the jail he's in and ask for booking and ask the booking officer they will tell you , they own to tell you. There is no bail for child support any money that is received will be disbursed to the absent parent by the child support clearing house.

okay I don't know about where u are at but here you can bond someone out if you are willing to pay packet all the child support that they owe in cash and sign them out. So that also channel if they don't pay it again you are going to have to, and if they don't show for court its your butt they look to put in send down. He might have to be there for a while depends on how much he owes
He stays contained by jail until he makes arrangement to pay. No, he cannot bail out.
